For those of you that don't know, we have the most incredible patients here at Northwest Orthodontics. We love to brag on them when we can.
Our very own Addison was diagnosed with High-Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on January 15th, 2015 and she has proven herself to be a fighter, enduring this journey. She had 9 months of intense chemotherapy, over a dozen blood transfusions, countless scans, and tests. Throughout it all, she has remained positive and has had the best attitude. When she felt well and her immune system was up, she and her best friends would have lemonade stands. They donated the money they made to her doctor at Arkansas Children's Hospital for leukemia research, "...so people won't have to go through what I've gone through!" she told the doctors.
She recently began maintenance last week. She won't be able to go to school and will continue to have chemo, although less intense, for the next 2 1/2 years. Through her battle, some people that are close to Addison and her family have grown in their faith and have found a new faith in people which is praise that came out of this horrible circumstance.
Her doctors feel that she responded well to the treatments. She and her family want to continue to bring awareness and attention to childhood cancer. Their hope is one day there will be a cure and that treatment won't be as horrible for the kids.
So why are we dancing? Here's why:
Pediatric Cancer has a campaign to #justkeepdancing and Addison challenged us as an office to support and raise awareness for these young heroes. Well, here you have it, Addison. Thanks for challenging us!
She also has a FB page "TEAM ADDISON" if anyone wants to continue with updates.
WE LOVE YOU, ADDISON!
